DESCRIPTION:
There are a few slight, very minor abrasions on the mahogany veneer wooden hull and some very slight distortions of the smoke stack positioning, coming up on a backward angle from the ship's deck. No attempt has been made to try and straighten the stacks or force them back into a perfectly aligned position. It's otherwise in wonderfully well-preserved overall vintage condition. It's quite large, measuring a full
34 1/2" in overall length, 14" in overall height and 4" in depth.
It sits on an original pewter gray pedestal metal base. It's inscribed
'TITANIC,
Belongs to Tom McAndrew'
in graphite. It features two different types of brass used in the ship model's construction, with fatigued, acid-etched reticulated brass sheeting used on its side to represent the ship's many cabin windows and bright, solid brass sheeting, making up the four distinct, angled smokestacks, as well as the fore and aft tension towers, where cables would've been hung from. The mahogany veneer wood hull remains in great shape. Very nice. big, bad and beautiful. Clearly not just the same old, same old ship model but a
34 1/2" long
scale model of the infamous, doomed luxury ocean liner, the
'RMS Titanic.'
Extraordinary.
